Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy is set to hit screens and it is touted that it will break box office records. The cast has already shown the movie at the Berlin Film Festival. Now, it is set to break ground back home. In an EXCLUSIVE interview to Bollywood Hungama, Ranveer and Alia spoke about how they are defined (as actors) by the choices they make and how it does not put pressure on them.

The interview started with a fun banter about Alia’s fiery dialogue where she gets all possessive about her rapper boyfriend Murad (played by Ranveer Singh) and is very pissed towards the girl (Albina Dadarkar) who gets too close for comfort or does ‘Gulu Gulu’ with Murad. Alia Bhatt was asked what exactly does this term mean to which she said, “Gulu  Gulu matlab flirting, being cute, pyaari pyaari baatein karna, cute cute baatein…. gulu baatein.” She then got a bit conscious and added, “I guess ha, I have only said these lines…”

Moving on, Ranveer Singh was asked how important is Gully Boy for him to which he replied, “Ya, I mean every film is important. It is ultimately a notch in your filmography. Gully Boy is coming together of too many elements. Zoya: as a filmmaker, Alia: My first feature collaboration, first of what I hope will be many more in future, Mumbai and its culture, hip hop. All of these things coming together all at once make it one of my most special films ever.”

Alia Bhatt was then asked about the pressures and expectations put on her as an actor to which she replied, “These thoughts come to my mind only few days before the film releases. It happens with me that we have to shoot a film and then I forget that it has to release also. We are shooting, this film, that film and having fun. After some time it hits you that people are going to see it, it is going to be there. Expectations will be there in the sense that whether you are doing well or not, whether you are picking a good film or not. I hope I don’t disappoint but I hope that this expectation thing does not come in the way of my decisions.”

Ranveer interjected at this point and replied, “That’s what you work for. I am a Hindi film loving audience and I genuinely believe that if its Alia Bhatt on the poster, the film is a must watch.”
